Uswitch comments on Government’s move to crack down on fraudulent car insurance claims
“For too long, innocent motorists have been paying the price for fraudulent whiplash claims. Yet the government’s proposed saving only covers half the cost that consumers bear for false whiplash claims – on average £90 per driver. To add insult to injury, motorists will have to wait until 2017 to see any savings at all.
“One way drivers can protect themselves is by taking out a black box car insurance policy. By installing a black box in the car, insurers can monitor driving data such as speed during an accident, exposing fraudulent whiplash claims by dishonest drivers. With car insurance premiums set to rise 8% in 2016, drivers should look to explore all options to reduce their premiums.”
