Flip mobile phones in depth
Flip mobile phones are two-part handsets with an upper section that you literally flip up when you want to make or take a call.
What are the advantages of flip mobile phones?
Flip mobile phones are more compact than traditional mobiles, allowing them to slip easily into your pocket or bag.
Another advantage of flip mobile phones is that the upper part of the handset protects the screen. That means that it’s much more likely to be able to withstand accidental mishaps.
Many flip mobile phones feature two screens - on both sides of the upper section. As a result, users are able to access information, such as the caller, the time and incoming messages, without even opening up the phone.
One other selling point of handsets of this type is that they often offer longer battery life. This is because they consume less power, as they use a smaller screen on the outside for key functions when closed.
Finally, flip mobile phones are some of the most stylish around, with neat looks that really stand out from the crowd.

History of flip mobile phones
Although unverified, flip mobile phones are believed by many to have been inspired by the gold communicators featured in the original series of Star Trek. However, it was not until 1982 that the first flip mobile phone appeared in the form of the Compass phone from laptop maker GRiD.
The company most closely associated with flip mobile phones is Motorola, which enjoyed massive success with its RAZR range.
