Keyboard mobile phones are handsets that feature a physical QWERTY keyboard instead of the traditional numerical keypad that was typical of older mobiles. This makes them great phones for sending emails, composing text messages and inputting large amounts of text quickly and effortlessly.

Most companies that make high-end mobile phones now manufacture keyboard mobiles. Great keyboard mobile phones are on offer from Nokia, BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion, HTC, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
The location of the keyboard varies between different keyboard mobile phones. Many BlackBerry models simply have the keyboard where you would expect the keypad to be, that is: directly under the screen.
However, several keyboard mobiles now feature a separate section that houses the keyboard and can be slid open when owners want to type.

BlackBerry mobile phones’ popularity with businessmen who need to be able to work on the go is a strong indicator of their status as superb keyboard mobiles. They are also hugely popular with teenagers for their instant messaging capabilities and slick designs.
Selected HTC Android mobile phones also feature QWERTY keyboards and are similarly highly rated by keyboard mobile phone fans, as are mobile phones in Nokia’s Nseries and Eseries of high-end mobiles and certain Windows Phone handsets.

Do I need a keyboard mobile phone?
As with any purchase, it’s best to weigh up how you plan to use a mobile phone before you take the plunge. If you intend to use your phone as an aid to your working life, then a keyboard mobile phone is likely to be an excellent selection.
Keyboard mobiles are also brilliant time savers for anyone who uses their handset for extensive emailing and social networking.
However, if you’re planning to use your mobile phone solely for texts and calls it may be more prudent to buy a more traditional model.
