Small mobile phones in depth
Small mobile phones are brilliant space savers that still manage to pack an incredible array of features into their compact form factors. They are also some of the lightest, most well-designed mobiles around.
What are the advantages of small mobile phones?
The most obvious advantage of a small mobile phone is that it takes up less room and is lighter than larger models. That means you’ll have more space in your bag or pocket for other items you need to carry around.
In our opinion, small mobiles are also terrific looking and embody everything that a 'mobile' phone stands for.

Do small mobiles have as many features as larger models?
Small mobile phone manufacturers cram as many features as possible into their handsets. Despite their compact dimensions, small mobiles will typically offer all the modern functions such as fast web browsing, gaming and social networking capabilities.
However, some features may be sacrificed in order to keep the phones small. This means that small mobile phones are less likely to offer QWERTY keyboards and typically boast less on board storage than larger models.

Which small mobile phone form factors are available?
Small mobile phones come in a variety of form factors. The most common are flip mobile phones – also known as clamshell mobile phones – and slide mobile phones.
Flip or clamshell mobiles are two-part mobiles with an upper section that you literally flip up when you want to make or take a call. When folded up, these double the actual size of the phone when folded shut.
Flip phones typically feature a front-mounted display to let you see who the caller is without opening the handset and offer long battery life. Additionally, clamshell design of the handset protects the screen, meaning it is less likely to get damaged from a fall.
Slide mobile phones, meanwhile, are two-part phones in which the upper section slides on top of a lower section to make the handset as compact as possible. Slide mobile phones allow users accept and end calls without having to press a button or even looking at the screen, making them ideal for users with busy lifestyles.

Who are small mobile phones suitable for?
Small mobile phones are a great for anyone who wants their mobile phone to stand out from the crowd but doesn’t want to carry around a heavy device in their bag or pocket. They also tend to be cheaper than larger handsets, making them ideal for young people and those on a budget.
