Tri band mobile phones in depth
Tri band mobile phones are handsets that can be used in a range of countries across the globe. This makes them great choices for anyone who works abroad or travels overseas frequently.
A tri band phone supports three of the four frequency bands used by mobile networks worldwide. This leave owners free to travel almost anywhere in the world safe in the knowledge that they will be contactable by their friends, colleagues and families at all times.

Where do tri band mobiles work?
The phrase tri band mobile phones refers to handsets that support the 850 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies. This means that they can be used in Europe, Africa, Canada, some networks in the US, South America and the Caribbean.
How are they different from quad band and dual band phones?
Unlike tri band phones, quad band mobiles can connect to all four frequencies in use by mobile companies, namely 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 1900 MHz. This means that they can be used all over the globe.
Conversely, dual band phones will work in Europe and the UK. These handsets use the 900MHz and 1800MHz frequencies.

Why choose a tri band mobile phone?
Tri band phones provide peace of mind when you’re traveling the globe, ensuring you’ll be able to make and take calls and send text messages as easily as if you were at home.
By choosing a tri band phone, you also won’t have to hire or purchase a separate phone when you’re overseas. This will save you a lot of money in the long run.
Who are tri band phones suitable for?
Obviously, frequent flyers and jet-setting businessmen are those most in need of a tri band mobile phone. However, even casual holidaymakers who travel abroad once a year or less will want to stay in touch with friends and family, thus making tri band mobiles almost essential to anyone.
Are tri band phones cheaper than quad band handsets?
In a word, yes. Quad band functionality tends to be reserved for more expensive mobile phones. However, a tri band mobile is usually perfectly adequate for most of our travel needs.
