New rumours say displays will be made by LG only.
The iPhone 5 is the thinnest, lightest, fastest and best-looking iPhone ever and with 64GB of storage has ample room for all your apps, games, music and videos. It's also the biggest thing to happen to iPhone since the first Apple smartphone revolutionised smartphones forever.
Consumers have been demanding an iPhone with a larger screen for some time. The iPhone 5's four-inch Retina display doesn't disappoint. Not only is it fantastic for watching widescreen HD videos on the go. Because it packs in 326 pixels per inch and offers higher colour saturation, it brings movies to life like no other handset, too.
But all that extra screen space doesn't mean extra bulk. At just 7.6mm thin and weighing only 112 grams, the sixth-generation iPhone is 18 per cent slimmer and 20 per cent lighter than the 4S model.
Speed comes as standard with iPhones. But none more so than the iPhone 5. Because this handset offers 4G LTE support (depending on network) it's capable of surfing the web and downloading or streaming content at speeds up to six times faster than 3G.
Boosting this stellar phone even further in the speed stakes is the dual core A6 processor. This is twice as fast as the iPhone 4S's A5 chipset and means the iPhone 5 works with an amazing 'snap' - even if you've got multiple apps open simultaneously.
What's even more staggering about the A6 processor, though, is how battery efficient it is. This means that despite all that extra battery-hungry brawn and speed, you'll still get eight hours of browsing or eight hours of talk time, or up to 10 hours of video playback.
Apple hasn't neglected the camera either. The iPhone 4S's brilliant eight-megapixel iSight camera has been enhanced with full HD video recording, better low-light performance and 40 per cent faster snapping. And there's a brilliant panorama mode that delivers staggering shots every time.
Capping off Apple's achievements is the latest version of its smartphone software, iOS 6. This brings with it a massively revamped version of the Siri digital assistant app, which now lets you speak updates to your Facebook page and delivers voice results for where to eat and what movies to watch.
Apple Maps also makes its debut with this great new edition of Apple's operating system and offers turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic information and spoken directions to help get you wherever it is you're going.
Other features of the iPhone 5 include 64GB of storage, a secondary 1.2-megapixel camera for video calls with the FaceTime app and a choice of tens of thousands of great apps and games from the App Store.
