Had this phone for 3 months now. Very nice look/ feel, cant knock the performance/ speed. Ease of use and practicality is second to none. Only one downside, sometimes the phone does freeze when certain apps/ games are being ran. Never had a problem with the battery life whatsoever so cant really complain just yet. RECOMMENDED

It's a smart phone, it does the job but I don't buy into all the hype around Apple.

Battery life's OK, features are OK and comparable to a good Android phone.

Apple iPhone 5s 16GB Gold details

The gold edition of the iPhone 5s turns heads like few other smartphones. And with fingerprint-recognition technology, an all-new operating system and more processing power than most desktop computers, it's just as glittering on the inside too.

Apple calls the iPhone 5s the "most forward-thinking iPhone ever". And for this jaw-droppng handset's Touch ID function alone, it's a description that's well merited.

Touch ID is biometric technology embedded in the iPhone 5s's home button. It means that for the first time, you can unlock your smartphone using your thumbprint alone. Not only that, though. It also keeps your handset and your personal data safer than before and frees you from ever again typing in - and having to remember - a passcode.

There's more to Touch ID than that, though. Much, much more. It can also be used to authorise purchases in iTunes, the App Store and the iBooks Store. Fed up with laboriously inputting your password every time you buy something? Touch ID means you don't have to. You can even set your handset so it remembers the prints of four other people, so that your nearest and dearest can unlock the phone if they have to.

Did we mention the iPhone 5s is more powerful too? Well, it is. And not just by a small margin. The A7 processor (the first-ever 64 bit chip to feature on a smartphone) is twice as fast as the A6 processor that's on board the iPhone 5. The upshot? A chip that handles 3D graphics with elan. And a handset that zips through menus and positively snaps to attention at your command.

This time around the A series processor has a sidekick. And its name is the M7. This coprocessor helps out with the heavy lifting to ease the strain on the A7 chip. Not only that, it measures your motion more accurately with the result that the iPhone 5s is terrific for sports and fitness apps.

But all that extra power must be a drain on the battery life, right? Wrong. Not a bit of it. Both chips have been designed to be energy-efficient and work in conjunction to prevent your battery from draining fast, even when you're putting it under real strain.

Camera capabilities are another iPhone stong suit. So it won't surprise you that the iPhone 5s is home to a improved eight-megapixel iSight camera. Fitted with a 15% larger sensor and an aperture that's been increased to ƒ/2.2, the extra light these provide means better, more vibrant photos. Want to get creative? No problem. Panorama modes and a choice of filters means there's endless scope to get arty.

You'd be surprised the iPhone 5s didn't support 4G. And of course it does. Buy this stellar handset on a 4G network and you'll experience connection speeds that make 3G look positively sluggish. That means that faster movie and game downloads, buffer-free streaming and brilliant browsing are a given.

Powering the iPhone 5s is iOS 7. Not only does the completely redesigned operating system look more vibrant and livelier than before. It also brings with it better multi-tasking and innovations such as Control Centre, which gives you one-swipe access to key settings. Plus there are new apps to look forward to, as well as redesigned versions of old favourites, such as Safari.

Completing the iPhone 5s's staggering feature set is an improved FaceTime HD camera, 1080 HD video recording with 3X zoom and the most extensive choice of apps and games of any smartphone.
