HTC Hero Graphite details

The HTC Hero is a smartphone of astonishing quality and packs in everything from a superb 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, fast 3G mobile internet access and an impressive 3.2" touch screen.

One look at this handset and we think you’ll be blown away. Boasting bevelled edges, an angled bottom and a cool graphite exterior, it looks absolutely incredible. But it’s far from a just a pretty face.

Running on the latest version of Google’s Android operating system, owners of the HTC Hero will be able to access a host of brilliant built in applications. These include the Google search engine, Google Translate and Google Maps. Meanwhile, a visit to the Android market will open up a world of third party apps, including games and more practical software, which allow you to change the functionality of your phone any time you feel like it.

Alternatively, further entertainment comes in the form of an onboard media player that supports all major file storage formats and features a 3.5mm headphone jack to allow you to use high-quality headsets.

Other functions of the HTC Hero include HSDPA support for a smooth, efficient web browsing experience and fast downloads at up to 7.2Mb, a brilliant five megapixel camera with auto-focus and an impressively large 3.2-inch TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with 320x480 HVGA resolution.

More on the HTC Hero Graphite

The HTC Hero is one of several brilliant Android mobile phones that have made the Taiwanese brand HTC a household name, with everyone from the technology press to consumers united in their admiration of its handsets.

This was borne out by Hero scooping two major awards in 2009. Stuff magazine readers voted it the Gadget of the Year, with 135,000 people deeming HTC’s handset to be better than the iPhone 3G S. The Hero followed up it success in the poll by scooping the award for Phone of the Year from rival technology magazine T3.

As well as the features listed above, the HTC Hero also boasts quad band support, meaning it can be used with mobile phone networks all over the globe, and a full HTML browser. Owners of the HTC Hero can expect up to eight hours talk time on a single full charge and battery life of up to 440 hours when the handset is in standby mode.

The HTC Hero is awesome - more like a mini-computer than a phone. The google maps feature has saved my skin a few times already when I get lost!

I have my HTC hero just over a month and have to rebuild it twice remove apps and it still runs like a dog with only two legs. I compared it wy my nephews HTC Magic and it makes mine look like a Sinclair Spectrum PC (for those that are old). It also have the nice feature of force apps to close on a regular basis.
