HTC Touch HD details

With one the largest displays ever seen on a mobile phone and excellent touchscreen and a range of multimedia features, the Touch HD is another fantastic handset from HTC.

Running on the Windows Mobile operating system, the HTC Touch HD is fast and efficient to use. And similarly speedy is accessing the internet, with HSDPA compatibility meaning that accessing information and downloading files is lightning fast.

Advanced e-mail functions, including a document viewer, make this a great phone for attending to business on the move. Meanwhile, the music player and FM radio means that you can stay entertained wherever you are.

A five megapixel camera with autofocus and digital zoom is installed, which takes superb quality moving and still images, while a secondary camera is provided for video calling.

Navigation is rendered a breeze thanks to the onboard GPS system and Google Maps, so that you can find your way around unfamiliar areas with the minimum of effort.

Other features of the HTC Touch HD include inbuilt games with the option to download more from the internet, instant messaging, MMS, SMS with predictive text, slide show and photo album functions and 512MB of internal memory to allow you to make the most of the phone.

Owners can expect talk time of up to 480 minutes or up to 680 hours when the phone is on standby.

More on the HTC Touch HD

The HTC Touch HD is a handset that more than matches the BlackBerry Strom and the iPhone for functions and smart looks and garnered more than its fair share of glowing reviews upon its release.

In particular, the phone has been praised for its enormous, high quality native WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) touch screen which makes other handsets’ less generous displays look very cramped indeed. It’s also by common consent the most impressive screen yet seen on a Windows Mobile 6.1 operated device.

Business users have taken to the HTC Touch HD in great numbers, attracted by brilliant features such as the handwriting recognition function that is a boon for entering large amounts of text. Meanwhile, the opportunity to edit and view documents created in Word, Excel and PowerPoint also swelled its appeal to busy workers, by allowing them to attend to important business while on the move.

Woah, Sexy. I got my HTC Touch HD 2 months ago and I must say: "wow". The screen is huge and is great for watching videos on (Family Guy my favourite). Windows mobile is nasty to begin with but after youve gotten used to it it has many useful features.

You can easily sync it with your Outlook account, so that all your contacts and calendar information is available easily on the phone. one niggle is that to put programs on it is a bit harder that the Iphones app market but there are rumours of a windows mobile app market...

Excellent phone, really really great - responsive, bright , HiRes screen was all worth the wait. Feels a bit delicate compared to the Sony Ericsson P1i that I had before but there are loads of useful features.

No flash,though, which is weird.

I'm a total gadget freak and having owned all the top smart phones...i phone , sony xperia , blackberry storm etc you can take my word for this - this is by far the BEST smart phone...the only downsides are: running windows mobile 6.1 & an ever so slightly sluggish touch screen if analysed in comparison with the apple iphone.... The real highlights of this phone are: awesome screen and fantastic battery life!

When I was due an upgrade at the end of October I was torn between going for the much hyped iPhone 3G or one of its touch phone rivals! In the end I decided that the iPhone didn't have enough for me - no stereo Bluetooth, MMS, video recording & only the most basic 2MP camera meant opted for the Omnia!

Two Omnia handsets later (both had problems with the accelerometer & zero screen visibility when outside) I heard about the HTC Touch HD... I'm glad I waited!

If you were disappointed by the problems you found in the HTC Touch Pro, you'll be relieved to hear they've all been ironed out for this model. Windows mobile runs more quickly and everything's just a little bit smoother.
