Motorola Dext details

The Motorola Dext is an Android powered mobile phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, a five megapixel camera and a touchscreen. And it's brilliant for social networking, too.

Measuring just 58 x 114 x 15.85mm, the Motorola Dext is brilliantly compact. But as you’d expect from a cutting-edge Android mobile phone, it’s far from light on features.

As with all Android phones, the Dext comes with all key Google applications pre-installed – including Gmail, YouTube, GoogleMaps and Facebook. Plus, there’s a massive choice of other apps to download from the Android Market.

But the great thing about the Dext is that there’s plenty to get excited about even before you start downloading apps to bring new functions to your phone. Not least of these is the full QWERTY keyboard that makes it a breeze to input large amounts of text and compose emails.

And just as handy is the onboard memory of 1GB. This can be boosted further by up to 32GB, which means you’ll have limitless room for storing files. Meanwhile, the powerful Qualcomm processor means you’ll be able to open and use multiple features at once with minimum time lag.

Other features of the Motorola Dext include an array of messaging options including SMS, MMS and email, a five megapixel camera, a document viewer for attending to business on the move, organiser functions and a widget-based customisable, homescreen.

More on the Motorola Dext

The Motorola Dext is the Japanese company's first ever phone to use Google's Android platform. But as the amazing reviews it received reveal, you wouldn't know it.

Testers from leading technology sites were especially impressed with the social networking features that the Dext offers and the ease with which these can be accessed via the widgets on the homescreen. CNet was impressed enough by this aspect of the Dext to proclaim the handset to be "great for social butterflies".

Meanwhile, IT Pro noted its impressive looks and the massive scope for customisation that the phone offers.
