Motorola Milestone XT720 details
The sequel to Motorola's best-selling Milestone is perhaps even more of landmark mobile. With cutting-edge imaging capabilities, thousands of apps to choose from and a vast screen, this is the definition of a next-generation smartphone.
The Milestone successor marks its return with a unbelievably sharp 3.7-inch touchscreen and an impressive eight-megapixel camera with Xenon flash coupled with 720p HD video recording credentials that puts this kit at the very top of the smartphone league. It even comes with an HDMI port and a cable, which means playing back those shorts on your flat-screen should take only a few moments.
It’s a beautiful device, too. Encased in a slick aluminium casing, the XT720 features curves in all the right places and still maintains the masculine look of the original with a distinctive side ‘chin’ to give the handset the feel of a compact digital when held sideways. A dedicated camera button is present, as is a button to cycle through the different camera modes.
On the software side, the XT720 is powered by the Android operating system and is home to a range of Google’s best apps, including Google Voice, Maps, Street View, YouTube and many more available through the Android Market. Support for both push Gmail and Mail for Exchange is there. Though this time around, text entry relies on the very capable on-screen keyboard that takes full advantage the massive screen space.
In terms of connectivity, the XT720 has all the bases covered, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and DLNA support to just name a few. Plus, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, along with an FM radio with RDS support and a music player to keep you entertained on the move. And with a microSD slot that is expandable up to 32GB, you’ll have a hard time running out of space for movies and music.
