Nokia 5800 XpressMusic details

Nokia’s challenger to the iPhone, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is a full functioned media device which employs a modish touchscreen and tactile feedback to give a hugely pleasing user experience.

Known variously as the Nokia 5800 Tube and the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, this handset is a highly sought after device that matches the iPhone in every department.

Operation of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is via an intuitive touchscreen that makes accessing its array of features a breeze. Among the standout functions of this phone are a 3.2 inch, rich colour display and HSDPA connectivity to make surfing the web easy and downloading a fast and pleasurable experience.

Also onboard is a TV-out port so you can view pictures taken with the phone’s top quality 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity, support for geo-tagging of photographs and a fantastic media player to keep you entertained while on the move and a GPS receiver.

Onboard memory is 140MB to allow plenty of storage space for files. This can be boosted further, however, by adding a microSD card.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is quad-band so can be used with mobile phone networks all over the globe.

More on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic was one of the most anticipated mobile phone releases ever. Prior to its release speculation was rampant on messageboards and mobile phone sites, as to the specifications of the device and whether it would mount a serious challenge to iPhone. And when the phone did finally become available in January 2009, it was met with massive crowds outside Nokia’s flagship store in London’s Regent Street.

The phone is one of Nokia’s first-ever entries into the touchscreen arena and has been the subject of great reviews from respected mobile phone journals. Coming in for particular praise was the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic’s generous memory and array of control options. Meanwhile, Mobile Choice magazine awarded it a maximum five stars.

Intended to rival Sony Ericsson’s Walkman series of handsets, all of Nokia’s XpressMusic phones boast excellent stereo sound and the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic's appeal to a youthful audience was boosted by cameo appearances in The Dark Knight movie, Britney Spears’ Womanizer video and the promo for Cristina Aguilera’s Keeps Gettin’ Better.

The Nokia 5800 is the best phone that Nokia have ever produced. It's easy to use and has fast internet after you updated your device. Plus it's got clear & precise GPS, a brilliant music player and good camera. Forget the N97 Mini and iPhone and others, Nokia has got it right for a change.

Really, will people stop comparing the 5800 to the iPhone. They are in different market sectors. The 5800 is a mid-range in Nokia's words while the iPhone is at the top of the list.

Got my 5800 a few weeks ago and can hardly put it down. An outstanding piece of tech and my confidence is boosted by Nokia's impressive firmware upgrades. The number of apps, etc is growing daily and Nokia's OVI STORE is also very good.

Yes, the interface on the iPhone is slicker but it is around double the price! Additionally, this phone doesn't tie you into iTunes AND the camera with carl-zeiss lens has a dual LED flash.

The Nokia 5800 Express Music is a phone not to be pushed to the side & dismissed. This phone is slik & very smart looking. 8Gb memory capable of holding 2000 MP3 songs if thats what you're into. The phone has some really fantastic applications such as Global Mapping, Business & even a Speed Camera Tracker.

It also has fun apps & games which you can download for free & spend hours on. This phone is very stylish & one thing I really like about the Nokia 5800 is that you dont need to take the rear cover & battery out in order to get to your sim & memory card.

The 5800 also has some very smart disign work with built-in state of the art sensors telling it when the phone is to your ear therefor saving power. The 5800 saves alot of it's power when in & out of use which is why the battery lasts for so long before needing to be charged again. Uless you are on the phone or the internet 24/7 then your Nokia 5800 will last for a good while before needing charged up again.

This is a difinite buy & because it's a Nokia, if your on Pay as You Go & have no credit on your handset to browse the internet, you can always use Nokia's WLAN option which will let you view internet at no cost what-so-ever to & even download applications.

Love this stylish, fast, user friendly phone and all its features. Only negative thing I can say is it is a very sensitive phone so do not drop and avoid bumping it as they get loose connections and you won't be able to switch you phone on. But nothing your local Nokia store cannot sort out in minutes for free.

Brill phone had a touch phone before but this beats it by a mile so easy to use with the stylus and easy for texts as you can write the message instead of using the keypad.

I have been waiting for this phone for weeks and when it finally arrived today, I realised that as I expexted, Nokia pulled it off very nicely indeed. It's a complete i-phone beater - if you ask, better GPS, battery life is long and the speakers are incredible! All in all a very good package for a very reasonable price.
