Nokia 6220 Purple details

Nokia’s 6220 Purple is a fine handset that gives the Nokia Classic a colourful and thoroughly modern twist and packs a whole host of useful features into its eye-catching purple exterior.

Chief among the great features of this top grade handset is a five megapixel camera with Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss optics. The superior imaging quality this offers means that it is easily on a par with many single purpose digital cameras on the market.

The photos taken can then either be viewed on a television screen, geotagged to make them easy to search for and share, uploaded to a blog directly from the handset or sent to friends in the form of MMS messages.

Fast downloads are a breeze thanks to the Nokia 6220 Purple’s HSDPA connectivity, which also means that browsing the web, sending and receiving emails and streaming videos is fast and easy.

Other features include the new Nokia Maps 2.0 application, which helps with finding routes for travelling, an internet browser, e-mail, FM radio and up to 8GB of memory. Adaptive Multi Rate speech coding technology, meanwhile, gives a more natural sound to human voices and cuts out background noise.

At first view a good little handset packed with features. However the buttons do feel stiff and they give the phone a kind of 'cheap, clicky' feel in comparison with my old N70. One other fault that I have had with the 6220 is that the keypad over the selector buttons is not very durable. Both right and left selector keys are split and I am by no means heavy handed, or an over user of them. So far, I haven't had much sucess in getting the keypad replaced under warranty either. This is despite it being a fairly obvious material/design fault in my opinion. I do not think that this set will last until I'm due for an upgrade again.
