What are HTC Sensation phones?
HTC Sensation smartphones team up-to-the-minute Android phone features with exclusive HTC apps and services and the very best in industrial design. Select phones also feature cutting-edge Beats by Dre audio technology for a brilliant mobile music experience and come with free high-grade headphones.
HTC Sensation key features
What do you get when you choose a phone in the HTC Sensation family? Here we'll talk you through the pick of the features that make the Sensation range among HTC's most successful and most sought-after so far.
Android
All Sensation phones are powered by Google's Android operating system. That means you get a massive choice of apps to choose from the Android Market, taking in everything from fun games to more practical business tools. You'll also get features such as tethering, multi-tasking, responsive touchscreen keyboards, plenty of scope for customisation and much, much more.
Better still, you'll also get regular operating system updates from HTC - often bringing completely new functions to your Sensation phone.
Google apps
As with all Android phones, HTC Sensation smartphones come with Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube applications pre-installed. That means you can get started with apps and enjoy some of the best mobile email, mapping and entertainment services around straight out of the box,
HTC apps and Sense
HTC has sweetened its Sensation phones with some smart, exclusive apps. Among these is HTC Watch - a video download and rental service with a wide selection of movies and TV shows to view that brings masses of on the go entertainment options to your fingertips.
The phones also feature the Sense custom skin. Focussed on social networking, this combines all your Facebook updates, Tweets, emails and texts and contacts in a single location so it's easy to keep on top of your busy social life. It also means you don't have to open up a separate Facebook or Twitter each time.
Beats by Dre technology
Some of the best phones in the Sensation line are optimised for enjoying music on the go. That's down to on board Beats by Dre audio technology that was previously the preserve of stereo geeks.
If you're lucky enough to get one of these, you'll get a special audio profile created by Hip Hop musician Dr Dre intended to bring out the best in your music and make it sound altogether fuller and richer. And you'll get a free, tailor-made headset from Beats by Dre that would normally set you back £80.
Industrial design
Rugged, minimal design is an HTC trademark and features extensively in the Sensation range. That means they team minimal looks with a robust metal and rubber construction for handsets that feel satisfyingly weighty in the hand, look great and won't fall apart if you drop them.
Large screens
Sensation phones' display size ranges from 4.3-inches to 4.7-inches, making them just right for watching media and surfing the web on the go.
Who are HTC Sensation phones suitable for?
Music fans will love the Sensation phones with Beats by Dre audio technology on board. Meanwhile, the massive array of games, large screens and HTC Watch service mean they're pretty good for anyone who wants a phone that's great for staying entertained while on the move.
One downside, though, is that because screens on Sensation phones are so large, they're perhaps not the most pocketable handsets around. So if that's a top priority for you, it might be an idea to choose a smaller handset.
HTC Sensation are among HTC's best smartphones, which means they feature price points to match. Once again, if you feel you don't want or need the latest features, why not save some money and consider a cheaper phone?
What other HTC phones are there?
HTC's product line includes some of the best known phone brands out there, including its top-end Desire range, as well as the best-selling mid-range Wildfire collection - all of which, like Sensation handsets, are powered by Android.
Not all HTC phones run Android, though. The company also creates Windows smartphones, which feature Microsoft's colourful tile-based user interface and take in models such as the Titan and Trophy.
HTC Sensation availability
Most major UK networks range Sensation phones, so you should you be able to take your pick of carriers, contracts and allowances.
