What are XSeries phones?

Nokia XSeries phones are optimised for enjoying music on the go, with functions that match those of a dedicated personal stereo. The range also stands out for attention to design detail that matches Apple smartphones and are home to all the other great features, such as advanced social networking capabilities, that you'd expect to find in a modern communications device.

What makes XSeries so good for music?

Perhaps first and foremost, the XSeries range offer rich, full sound. This is thanks to the incorporation of innovative acoustic technology, such as a dedicated audio chip for hi-fi quality sonics as well as integrated 3D sound effect stereo speakers for when you want to share your music with friends.

The line also features dedicated keys for music playback. This means that you won't need to scroll through endless menus and can, play, pause, rewind, fast forward and skip tracks in exactly the same way as with a personal stereo.

Perhaps best of all, though, is that some XSeries phones come bundled with free access to ComesWithMusic - Nokia's music download service. For a limited period, buyers will be able to download and enjoy as many tracks as they like. And when the contract expires they're free to keep whatever they have downloaded. Alternatively, they can subscribe to the service for longer and go on enjoying unlimited downloads.

Finally, the XSeries come with ample storage space for as many songs as you can handle. For instance, the top-end X6 is equipped with capacity of 32GB, while the lower cost variants still offer 16GB or 8GB. All Nokia XSeries mobiles also offer microSD card support to allow to boost storage space yet further.

What else does the XSeries offer?

To bring you closer to your nearest and dearest, social networking is at the heart of this superb range of mobiles. This means that you can update your Twitter and FaceBook accounts directly from your handset, you can receive instant updates from all your contacts too. XSeries models also come with handy Instant Messengers built in and offer support for multiple email accounts.

Customisable homescreens are also key to the XSeries appeal. These allow users to set up widgets as they like on their main page, meaning that all their favourite applications and functions are only ever a single screen press away.

And, as is the case with all Nokia phones, XSeries buyers will be able to access thousands of great apps from the OVI store. This is an online software market similar to the iPhone App Store and offers everything from fun games to more practical business-orientated titles. Many of these are free to download, enabling you to change the functionality of your mobile on a daily basis free of charge.

As of 2010, Nokia installed integrated Maps on all phones at no extra cost. This combines with A-GPS support to give XSeries owners turn-by-turn, voice-guided navigation to get them wherever they're going in no time. No matter how unfamiliar their location.

Which phones are in the XSeries?
