Samsung has unveiled its new Xplorer B2100 handset, which teams a comfortable grip with a robust construction.

Aimed at hikers and adventurous sports enthusiasts, the Xplorer B2100 is constructed from rubber and anti-shock urethane material which means that it can withstand "bumps, bangs, scrapes, scuffs, and even dust”.

Additionally, it is water-proofed so that it will still work if it is submerged in one metre deep water for up to half an hour.

Other features of the phone include noise cancellation technology, a torch and a 1.3 megapixel camera which is capable of capturing still images as well as video footage.

Executive vice-president and head of mobile communication division at Samsung Electronics JK Shin said: "With the launch of Samsung Xplorer, Samsung will be able to solidify its position in outdoor phone market and continue to make products that excel in durability and usability.”

The Samsung phone will compete with other rugged handsets such as the JCB phone, which has principally found favour with construction workers.

The phone sounds good. I was wandering how much it costs and whether it is available to buy and what networks does it work on ?
