Nokia Logo hi res

“Make it so”, is the somewhat well-worn catchphrase of Star Trek’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard. He’s clearly a man used to getting what he wants. Now it seems the huge market of Star Trek fans are getting what they crave too.

Nokia has today announced the launch of a Star Trek-themed phone. Remodelled for Trekkers, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handset comes preloaded with special wallpapers and ringtones as wells a fun-sounding Phaser application. It’ll be out in the UK on May 8th on Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange and O2.

Alas, Top 10 Mobile Phones still isn’t fully satisfied. Cursory branding is all well and good but the handset still seems like an opportunity missed. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, but what we really want is a Trek phone in the shape of the communicators that featured in the original series. Come on, Nokia: “Make it so.”
