Vodafone is today giving away eight free tracks for every customer who visits its Music Store.

For 24 hours, a selection of eight pre-chosen songs are on offer from the likes of Lily Allen and Lady GaGa for all site visitors.

The Free Music Friday giveaway marks the arrival of 350,000 DRM-free songs on the site from both major labels and independents.

Stripping away DRM means that buyers will be transfer anything they have downloaded to their mobile phones, PCs or iPods.

News of the promotion comes as Vodafone recently confirmed plans for its own application store for third-party applications.

Launching later this year, the store will differ from rivals such as the Android Market and Apple's iPhone App Store by adding the cost of downloads to customers’ bills rather than charging it to their credit cards.
