Virgin Mobile’s service for mobile phone contract customers is the best in the business, according to a consumer survey.
The operator scored 718 points out of a possible 1,000 in a JD Power poll to top the rankings. O2 and Orange claimed second and third place respectively.
Virgin Mobile also impressed with its service for pre-pay customers, but was beaten into third place in this facet of the study by O2 and Tesco.
The report took into account a number of performance indicators, including call quality and coverage, cost, billing, promotions, customer service and availability of handsets.
JD Power and Associates senior manager of service, Stuart Crawford-Browne, said: "Providers that take care of their customers with ease of use, good value and loyalty incentives are more likely to prevail in this difficult economic environment."
High-end handsets currently available on competitively priced deals from Virgin Mobile include the Sony Ericsson W910i Black and the Sony Ericsson C902.
