Impressive sales for the HTC Magic and the T-Mobile G1 has prompted HTC to announce plans for a host of new Android mobile phones.
According to a report from Digitimes, the phone manufacturer intends to raise the proportion of its products accounted for by Android phones to 50 per cent.
Currently, phones using Google’s operating system make up just 30 per cent of the Taiwan-based company’s product portfolio.
News of the company’s strategy comes as its third Android phone the HTC Hero has just gone on sale in the UK.
Available now on Orange, the handset boasts a five megapixel camera, fast 3G HSDPA mobile internet access and HTC’s TouchFlo 3D user interface.
Buyers can choose between a graphite or white colour scheme and a range of contract plans which come with a free mobile phone.
