iPhone 3G S mobile phone sales skyrocketed during the third quarter to help Apple to record its best ever quarterly figures.
The Cupertino-based technology firm reported profits of £750 million during the quarter from total sales of £5 billion.
Massive demand for the iPhone 3G S was the driving factor behind the strong performance.
Sales of the latest edition of Apple’s all-conquering phone hit 57,000 per day over the period – a six-fold increase from the same period last year.
Commenting on the figures, Peter Oppenheimer, Apple's Chief Financial Officer, said: "Response to the new iPhone 3G S has been tremendous. We are currently unable to make another iPhone 3G S to meet robust demand but we are working to address this."
Apple’s iPhone 3G S is solely available in the UK on the O2 network. However, T-Mobile and Orange are reported to be in negotiations with the company to sell the earlier iPhone 3G edition.
