At the company’s AGM this week, its top execs fielded shareholders questions with aplomb but were stumped by the probing of a little boy. His question? Well, he had the temerity to ask if RIM planned to make a “phone more for kids so that my Mom will let me get one”.
By way of a feeble response, all the company’s co-heads Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis could muster was that “hopefully” the next generation of BlackBerrys will be more acceptable to his mother.
We’re taking that as a no. But if we were in his mum’s shoes we wouldn’t be buying our offspring – no matter how precocious they may be - hundreds of pounds of next-generation mobile communications device either.
