The LG Cookie KP500 has raced to five million unit sales in just nine months, comprehensively bucking the downturn in demand for new mobile phones. According to LG, huge demand for the mobile has resulted in it becoming the company’s fastest-selling fully touchscreen operated phone ever.
The figures equate to 19,000 LG Cookie phones being sold every day since it went on sale worldwide in November 2008.
Dr Skott Ahh, President and Chief Executive Officer of LG, attributed the success of the LG KP500 Cookie to a combination of its low price point and incorporation of in-demand touchscreen technology.
He said: “Achieving five million units in sales in only nine months is proof that we’re on track with our goal to make Cookie a phone that’s loved by everyone.
“Our strategy to provide a full touch screen phone at an affordable price has succeeded beyond our original expectations. If the current trend continues, we expect to see Cookie hit sales of 10 million by the end of this year.”
LG’s performance in the coming months is expected to be buoyed the popular LG Crystal GD900 and the LG Puccini GT500.
