The Samsung Galaxy Android mobile phone is due to land on O2 imminently, rumours suggest.

Registered Hardware reports that the new mobile phone will go on sale in stores and online at some stage next week, having initially been due to arrive in June.

The technology site discovered the release date for the Galaxy after consulting staff at the mobile phone network’s retail branches.

Features of the mobile include a 3.2-inch touchscreen user interface, as well as five megapixel camera, HSDPA for a fast mobile internet experience, Bluetooth support and 8GB of storage.

The Galaxy is the first Samsung mobile phone to utilise Google’s Android operating system, which has proved a huge selling point for the likes of the successor to the T-Mobile G1, the T-Mobile G2 Touch, and the HTC Hero.

Android phones are also on the way later this year from most major mobile phone manufacturers including LG, Sony Ericsson and BenQ.
