PALM PRE

The facility to synch the Palm Pre with iTunes has been disabled in Apple’s latest update, it has been confirmed.

Apple’s 9.0.2 update for iTunes, which was released on Thursday, was purportedly intended to add support for Apple 3.0.

However, the latest version of the software also prevents Pre owners from importing their iTunes library and playlists to their handset.

The news is the latest development in an ongoing wrangle between the Cupertino-based technology giant and Palm, which had employed spoofing techniques to get around Apple’s attempts to block the facility.

Palm is expected to attempt to restore the feature over the next week.

The Pre launched in the UK earlier this year exclusively on O2 and is available for free on contract plans from £35 per month.

Features of the handset include a touchscreen user interface, a 3.2 megapixel camera, a touchscreen and a physical QWERTY keyboard to enable users to input large amounts of text quickly and easily.

Give it until the end of the week and it'll be back. Until the next upgrade anyway.
