Motorola’s debut on the Android mobile phone platform, the Motorola Dext, will go on sale online tomorrow.

The handset, which is the first of several Android-powered mobiles on the way from Motorola, features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for inputting large amounts of text and a five megapixel camera.

The handset also boasts a 3.1-inch touchscreen, 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS support and expandable memory up to 32GB with a microSD card.

However, perhaps the most noteworthy feature of the Dext is that it will employ Motorola’s patented Motoblur interface, which aims to improve the social networking experience offered by Android mobiles.

Ralf Gerbershagen, vice president and general manager of Motorola Western Europe, said: “Motoblur, which will be available on multiple Motorola Android-powered devices in our upcoming portfolio, helps us to create phones that are instinctive, social and connected.

“Today’s mobile phone needs to be more than just ‘smart’. It needs to be social. The Dext is such a phone, offering the ability to funnel your entire social life into a single stream.”
