Red Bull mobile phone network to take wing?

Drinks brand Red Bull is planning a move into the mobile phone sector, reports suggest.

According to technology news source T3, the energy drinks maker has set up a mysterious site called Red Bull Mobile.

Despite no official confirmation from the company over its plans, site text says that the venture will offer "the latest handsets, competitive tariffs and a complete package of mobile communication features”.

Visitors can also click on a link to a sister site with copy written in German which shows pictures of Sony Ericsson mobile phones with Red Bull branding.

News of the company’s intentions comes just days after it emerged that O2 is poised to launch GiffGaff - the world’s first-ever people-powered mobile phone network.

GiffGaff’s unique selling point is that it will encourage customers to contribute suggestions to improve standards.

Financial rewards are on offer for those who are most actively involved.
