Speculation is mounting that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 is due to be officially launched on November 3rd, after a teaser trailer appeared online.
Originally, the upcoming mobile phone was not expected to go on sale until early next year.
However, the company has now served notice of a mystery event to be held next week which it claims will show off a device that is both "extraordinary and magical".
Evidence that this pertains to the Xperia X3 was unearthed by keen-eyed Sony Ericsson fans who examined the site’s source code and found references to the Rachael, which was the original codename for the X3.
The new mobile phone will feature a four-inch touchscreen, eight megapixel camera and HSDPA support for fast downloading and web browsing and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
The Xperia is Sony Ericsson’s debut on the Android mobile phone platform, which has been a key feature of many of this year’s biggest selling mobiles such as the HTC Magic, HTC Hero and T-Mobile G2 Touch.
