Sony Ericsson has issued a patch for its gaming-focused Aino and is throwing in mobile gaming classic Loco Roco for free.

Software issues with the handset first surfaced two weeks ago and prompted some high-profile UK retailers to withdraw the phone from sale temporarily.

The new patch fixes the problems, cuts battery consumption and improves the handset’s GPS, WLAN and Bluetooth performance.

As a goodwill gesture, the highly regarded platform game Loco Roco is also being bundled with the patch.

News of developments comes after Sony Ericsson last week unveiled a fix for touchscreen interface problems that were affecting its flagship handset for 2009, the Satio.

Both the Satio and the Aino are available now from Top 10 Mobile Phones priced from £30 per month and £25 per month respectively.

Features of the Satio include a 12 megapixel camera with Xenon flash, autofocus and smile detection technolgy, a massive touchscreen display and an onboard media player.

Meanwhile, the Aino is home to a media player as well as an 8.1 megapixel camera and offers users the option to use the phone to access and manage Playstation media content.

    i have updated mine twice but the touch screen still doesnt work and it wont go on stand by when it is shut.

    I too have this same problem. I've updated the phone, but the screen will not turn off when the phone is closed, and the touchscreen functions don't function.

    Six months of ownership of the U10a Aino for the US and I am now also having the issue where the touchscreen no longer works at all and the screen won't turn off in standby nor by pressing the lock button.
