Hackers port HTC Desire firmware to Nexus One

Although the HTC Desire has only been recently confirmed, a group of dedicated hackers have already pulled out the bare bones of its operating system and user interface to bring them to the Google Nexus One.

The biggest change that the HTC Desire offers over the Nexus One, which shares much of the same hardware, is the addition of the Sense user interface which is exclusive to HTC smartphones.

Hackers have created a ROM of the HTC Desire firmware and because the Android community is so dedicated to improving and enhancing rather than pirating and illegal activities, the hack will be welcomed by those looking to tweak their Nexus One.

If you do not want to brick your Nexus One then it's probably best to leave the hacking and modifying business to the experts, otherwise you could end up with a very expensive touchscreen paperweight.

However, if you do have the knowhow to get under a mobile phone's skin and give it a new lick of paint in the form of a firmware flash, then you might already be warming yourself up to get the HTC Desire ROM onto your Nexus One.

    HTC Desire = everything the Nexus One should have been. But sadly isn't.
