samsung galaxy 2

Pictures have appeared online showing what appears to be the next Android smartphone from Samsung, but whether this indicates the imminent arrival of the Galaxy 2 is unclear.

The images has been examined by numerous industry observers and predictions suggest that a large AMOLED screen of up to four inches in size could be the centrepiece of the Galaxy 2, along with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

Some industry experts have gone out on a limb and said that the Galaxy 2 will pack Android 2.1 from day one.

Other technical specifications such as Wi-Fi and GPS, along with a five megapixel camera, have also been hinted at.

There has been a certain degree of scepticism surrounding the newly leaked pictures. Particularly keen observers will notice that the on-screen icons are almost identical to those used by Motorola on their Milestone smartphone, suggesting that image manipulation is not out of the question.

Samsung is expected to officially unveil Galaxy 2 at the Mobile World Conference 2010 this month.
