iPhone Final Fantasy trailer surfaces

A little over a month after Square Enix first confirmed that it was working on a mobile version of classic RPG Final Fantasy for the iPhone, the first glimpse of the game in action has appeared on YouTube.

Although the gameplay, story and splendid audio tracks are being brought over from the relatively ancient originals, Square Enix has clearly been hard at work on the graphics to make them look worthy of the modern gaming platform that is the iPhone.

The officially sanctioned trailer's arrival has been accompanied by yet more promises from Square Enix that it is making rapid progress with the mobile versions and is hoping to push them into the public domain soon.

Another retro classic is also on its way to the iPhone. Street Fighter IV made a splash on home consoles and it is being modified for the iPhone platform right now.

    Is it just me or just this look like an old Gameboy Advance game? The visuals are really unsophisticated for an iPhone game.

    That's because those actually are GBA advance games. It's just an iphone-port of the FF collection that was released on GBA, which was in turn a remake of the original NES games from the 80s.

    If the price is at the right level (around the £3 mark) when it eventually comes out, I'll be tempted to buy it.

    I've always been a fan of the FF series and looks like a decent enough game to keep people interested for a while.
