The Met Office has unveiled a new weather app offering users five days forecasts and alerts of severe weather conditions.

Using the iPhone's GPS, the Met Office Weather App can let users know the precise temperature wherever they are, as well as the facility to check out the weather on a regional or national basis, making it ideal for frequent travellers.

The rest of the app's functions make for a fairly comprehensive feature set, with wind speed, satellite imagery and sunset times all accessible.

Developer Gorilla Box's Met Office Weather Application is free of charge and is available to download from the app store now.

With this new weather app's arrival, the built in iPhone weather app may well have been rendered obsolete.
