HTC TATTOO

The HTC Tattoo aimed to bring Android to the mainstream when it was released and now looks set to be making the leap to the latest version of the operating system.

Reports suggest that HTC is making progress with bringing the Sense user interface in line with the Tattoo's hardware to make sure that Android 2.1 operates smoothly.

Android fansite FrAndroid broke the news, quoting sources close to HTC who said that the necessary modifications might take a little more time to complete.

Meanwhile, Samsung's Galaxy Portal i5700 is also getting Android 2.1, with a video surfacing online showcasing the platform in action.

Samsung smartphones will not feature the excellent Sense UI from which HTC mobiles benefit, but Samsung has a few tweaks and improvements of its own to augment the solid Android platform.

While there have been rumours about the Tattoo being up for a new version of Android, I have yet to see the reports from the horse's mouth.

It would indeed be very nice to see it happen, so any confirmation or backing of the rumour from higher levels would be nice to see.

So, can you let us in on which reports suggest that this is indeed happening?
