Motorola has rolled out its Android 2.1 update for its flagship Milestone smartphone, bringing several new features and a wealth of general tweaks and improvements to UK users.

Android 2.1 gives the Milestone a total of nine home screens, as well as the ability to display live wallpapers.

New apps are also present in the update, including an improved camera software package and the Facebook app.

Additionally, Motorola has included the Car Home user interface, which is intended to be used by motorists when they are on the road, although it is not clear as to how this squares with the legal side of this area of use.

According to GSM Arena, the over-the-air Android 2.1 update for the Milestone takes under two minutes to download and the install process is completed with a brief phone restart before the software is ready to go.

Motorola will soon be rolling out the Android 2.1 update to other nations around the world, but those who cannot wait, or do not want to use the over-the-air option, can manually install the update by visiting Motorola's website and downloading the appropriate file.

It's good news. But not enough to make anyone to choose it over the Desire or Legend. Pretty cool for the ten hundred million Droid owners in the US, tho'.
