Rumours suggest that South Korean mobile phone manufacturer Samsung could be in the process of working on the world's first smartphone capable of displaying in-your-face 3D images.
Samsung is already set to become an important part of the 3D TV revolution, but now it looks as though a mobile codenamed SCH-W960 will introduce the technology to the pocket-sized marketplace.
Fan site Samsung Hub has found what looks like a promotional mock-up of the SCH-W960 and it said that the phone will have a large AMOLED touchscreen which can cope with the stereoscopic imagery that is necessary to produce the sense of 3D.
The screen is rumoured to be a decent 3.3-inches in size and a three megapixel camera will make the package competitive. It will also have a built in TV tuner for catching 3D broadcasts whenever they make it over the airwaves.
Samsung has not said anything official about the possibility of 3D mobiles, but there is a chance that it will make some announcements during the Unpacked expo later in March.
