The Samsung Wave was officially announced last month and its impressive list of features can now include DivX HD playback after it received the official stamp of approval.

The 3.3-inch screen of the Wave is not the biggest in the business, but with a resolution of 800x480 and the Super AMOLED technology on board, it will render high-definition video in 720p.

HD playback requires a beefy processor and the 1GHz powerhouse that makes the Samsung Wave tick should have more than enough capacity.

The Wave will benefit from HD playback because its five megapixel camera can also capture 720p video clips and so there will be less of a need to immediately transfer recordings to a PC.

With Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS on board, the Wave is not lacking in other areas either.

The Samsung Wave is due to touch down in April.
