Apple has announced that the iPad will be available in the UK from 28th May 2010 and will cost £429.

Apple will also be selling the device in stores across Europe, Australia, Japan and Canada from this date, ending months of speculation about stock levels, price points and value for money.

All versions of the iPad (including 3G versions) will be available on pre-order from Apple Store UK from May 10th.

The iPad will also be on sale in Apple’s high-street retail stores and some authorised resellers.

The full pricing (inclusive of VAT) is as follows: £429 for 16Gb, £499 for 32Gb, £599 for 64Gb (Wi-Fi versions) and £529 for 16Gb, £599 for 32Gb and £699 for 64GB for Wi-Fi + 3G models.

As for software and stuff to purchase for the iPad, the much-loved iBooks app including Apple iBookstore will be available as a free download from the launch date.

O2, Vodafone and Orange are busy announcing their data plans as we speak.
