HTC's latest Android smartphone , the HTC Wildfire, will be added to Virgin Media's handset line-up when it makes its UK debut later in the year.

When HTC announced its Legend and Desire smartphones earlier in the year, UK providers were queuing up to get exclusive special editions and secure sufficient stock, but early the Wildfire has yet to have garnered the same levels of support.

In the past Virgin Media has not been an especially keen supporter of HTC, although it does currently offer the Windows Mobile-based HD2 which is memorable for its market leading 4.3-inch touchscreen display.

The HTC Wildfire is aimed at the lower end of the smartphone market and it may make its first appearance on pay monthly contracts costing about £15.

Looks a good phone, I guess. But given that you can get a Desire for not that much, why choose this over it?
