obile manufacturer LG and portable media player specialist iRiver have teamed up for a mobile phone that focuses on music functions.

iRiver may not be a staple amongst western consumer brands, but it is highly respected by those in the know and most people will be aware of LG's track record in a range of electronics industries, not least the mobile phone business.

The LG-LB4400 is the first product of the pair's partnership and it has a 2.8 inch OLED screen, Dolby's surround sound system for mobiles and a three megapixel camera. Korean customers will be able to watch live TV thanks to the integrated digital tuner.

iRiver has supplied the media playback software, with wide ranging support for all major formats, including the enthusiasts' choice FLAC.

The chances of the LG-LB4400 making it over to the UK are fairly slim, as the manufacturer will be well aware of the limited appeal of iRiver products overseas.

However, anything is possible, so this excellent sounding feature phone may well arrive on British shores at some stage.

Far too cool to ever come to the UK. Plus like you say the fact that iRiver stuff doesn't have many takers over here means it'd probably be a flop. Shame.
