Details of Motorola's next Android phone challenger, the Motorola Shadow MB810, have leaked online.

Motorola was rumoured to be working on a smartphone called the Shadow back in 2009, but it is now believed that this phone will become the replacement for its current flagship handset, the Milestone.

The rumours of the Shadow's impending launch emerged last Saturday when the Wi-Fi Alliance was given a device called the MB810 to certify by Motorola.

The Motorola Shadow is purported to feature a 4.3 inch screen, version 2.2 of Android and an eight megapixel camera, according to Phandroid.

It may also be able to handle full high definition video during playback and capture 720p video using the camera.

As with the recently announced Nokia N8, Motorola's new smartphone will reportedly have a miniature HDMI output, allowing it to be hooked up to an HD television for big screen viewing of videos and other media content.

This won't match the Droid/Milestone for sales. That lucked out by being one of the few Android phones available in The States. It had nothing like the same impact this side of The Pond.

I'll buy this (or a similarly specced Android phone), just so long as it's unlocked for use in Europe, and supports a carrier other than AT&T in the states. This may or may not make a huge splash either side of the pond (there are many Android phones to choose from these days), but with 720p (wish it were 1080p) video, android 2.2, turn-by-turn GPS on both sides of the pond, it's exactly the kind of phone I'm looking for for this summer's upgrade.

Android voice quality is poor on my droid. Switched to a razr and everyone can hear me now. Verizon QA is poor.
