Samsung has bolstered its range of keenly priced mobiles with the Samsung Champ, which promises to bring touchscreen functionality to the budget market.

The Champ sports a 2.4-inch display as well as Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz Lite user interface, along with a basic 1.3 megapixel camera and a full sized universal headphone socket.

European users will be able to pick up the Samsung Champ from some point in the next month. Samsung seems to be targeting the youth market by producing multiple editions of the Champ with different coloured shells.

UK pricing for the handset has yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to come with a price tag of £100 or less for pay as you go customers.

At the moment it might seem difficult to see where the Champ fits in to the market, especially since Samsung has spent recent years packing this segment with superficially similar mobiles.
