The Samsung Galaxy S is the latest smartphone to be snapped up by Vodafone to add to its current UK line up of high end mobiles.

A 1GHz processor is at the heart of the Galaxy S, powering the Android platform and a large four inch Super AMOLED display.

16GB of on-board memory can be augmented with extra storage via a microSD memory card and there is a five megapixel camera mounted on the back, which is capable of shooting video in 720p HD.

Version 2.1 of Android is installed and initial reports from Vodafone had suggested that the Galaxy S would have Google's Chrome web browser, but these have turned out to be mistaken.

Android phone fans can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S from Vodafone right now, although the network provider has not yet revealed how much a monthly contract will cost.

However, estimates from observers put the Galaxy S into a £35 monthly price bracket with a minimum two year commitment.

Other Android smartphones currently available on Vodafone mobile phone contracts include the Google Nexus One and the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.
