Sony Ericsson has announced a FIFA edition of its Vivaz smartphone to help fans support their teams during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa,

The basic hardware of the Vivaz FIFA edition remains identical to the standard original, but it has the FIFA Football Fan application pre-loaded and ready to use. This is a completely exclusive app that no other mobile user will be getting.

The FIFA provides access to a live stream of news about the tournament, with information on every goal sent direct to your phone. Historic football facts are included in the app, as well as the ability to access Twitter and Facebook without having to fire up your browser.

To bulk out the package, the phone comes with EA Sports 10 to satisfy inevitable football gaming needs and as with the standard Vivaz, you can capture video in high definition, which is perfect for recording the celebrations as your team of choice experiences some triumphs at the tournament.

The Vivaz FIFA edition is going to be available in black or silver and O2, Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile are all going to be launching this special version over the next few days in the run up to the 2010 World Cup.

Hey everyone! It's a World Cup edition of a phone! File next to Frijj drinks in England strips and Peter Crouch booting around a Pringles packet on TV in the big list of World Cup tat that the world doesn't need.

I'll probably still buy one though.
