A game for the iPhone that allows the player to enact a fight with a broken bottle has inflamed the ire of parents who consider it to be a dangerous, frightening experience for children.

Broken Bottle 2 lets players pick from a number of different types of glass container, smash the virtual bottle and then slash and stab their way through enemies.

With blood and relatively realistic violence on-screen, it is fairly obvious that the Broken Bottle 2 app is not intended for a young, impressionable audience, although this has not stopped its presence on the App Store being questioned by parents.

"It's totally sick. I spotted it after my seven-year-old daughter downloaded Connect 4," said father Andrew Lancaster in an interview with The Sun.

The Broken Bottle 2 game is supported by in-app advertising and although sceptics may point out that no child should really be in possession of an expensive smartphone for an extended period, this is just one in a long line of apps against to objections have been made.

I think this is absolutley disgusting, disgraceful and sickening. Who in their right mind would make this app and advertise it?

This is something that happens every day around the world - and you're making it fun for people to PLAY with. People who find this funny are seriously sick in the head and have serious mental problems.

Outrageous! Why don't they stick to the usual weapons in computer games, such as knives, guns and bombs? No-one ever got harmed by a land mine or an assault rifle.

Encouraging children to use lethal weapons such as bottles is totally over the top and should be banned.

You're both wrong. Frozen food items as a bludgeoning weapon would be much more acceptable, as at least you can eat the murder weapon after you've committed the crime.

Stabbed to death with a frozen frankfurter through the eye! aghhhh!

But the botttle idea sounds interesting with empty plastic coke bottles. Used to do that all the time when I was at school. Never knew why the bullies still beat me with their fists though. BAN FISTS!!!

@Dave your completely contradicting yourself. "No-one ever got harmed by a land mine or an assault rifle. " I can assure you many people lost their lives and got "harmed" by them just as much as a bottle would harm someone. IT'S A VIDEO GAME. Period. Get over it.
