Google has launched Android 2.2 via an over the air update to Nexus One owners and has provided developers with the source code to test out their apps.

Developers have already identified some potential issues with the update, with one glaring problem affecting some users who are having to reinstall an older build of Android before the new code will become fully operational.

In a post on Android Spin, developer Alex Smith stated: "It seems like some of us Nexus One users received an OTA update that updates the build number to FRF83.

"Unfortunately, if you are currently running the FRF72 update, you are going have to downgrade to FRF50 to install the latest build."

The roll out of Android 2.2 to the other smartphones that run on Google's older platforms will continue over the next few months as manufacturers get to grips with producing their own updates.
