HTC has created an all-silver edition of the HTC Desire, giving customers an alternative to the golden brown original.

The HTC Desire Limited Edition Silver is currently available to pre-order online for £449.99 SIM free, according to sources and is already confirmed for arrival next week.

Nothing has been altered other than the colour, so the HTC Desire Silver still has a 1GHz processor, Android 2.1 and a five megapixel camera.

Given that the numbers in stock are presumably limited, it might be available for a brief period in the Desire-hungry UK.

Latterly, HTC has run into criticism over shortages of the Desire on our shores and this new special edition could go some way to appeasing the naysayers.

It looks as though the special Silver Desire will only be available as a SIM free option, although securing a network partner would not be difficult given its popularity.
