The soon-to-arrive iPhone 4 will be capable of running presentations, a photo on the official Apple site suggests.

In the aftermath of the iPhone 4's unveiling on Monday, Apple uploaded and then took down an image from its official site which contains clues about a potential presentation function.

The image was only live for a shot period before Apple became aware of the leak and was quickly replaced with an edited version, which some have pointed out still contains a few titbits of juicy information.

The image shows the iPhone 4 giving the user the option to open a file in Keynote, which for the uninitiated is Apple's take on the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation software with which many will be familiar.

The implication of this feature is that the iPhone 4 might be able to operate as a device for presentations if connected to a projector, presumably via Bluetooth or a dedicated dock.

Even after Apple replaced the image of Keynote with one showing iBooks, it neglected to alter the text of the email showing in the background, which was mocked up to talk about a presentation.

Very smart move. iPhones are replacing BlackBerrys as business people's handset of choice already. Even in the City this is the case. Enabling presentations is bad, bad news for RIM, whose phones are already losing market share.
