Nokia has created a series of online guides detailing how different smartphone apps operate and what they offer, in a bid to help owners of its high end smartphones to get the best out of them.

Nokia hopes its tutorials will make the whole app-buying process more transparent, particularly for people who are going to part with cash for the privilege of downloading and using an app.

There are currently five different app guides on the Nokia site, although there are still plenty of app review sites that have a dedicated following, so for some impartial opinions Nokia users might also look elsewhere for app information.

Nokia has said that it will eventually get its app guides up to a release speed of one every seven days, which would certainly help the undecided.

"One tricky part of buying mobile applications is that very often - unless you've read an in-depth review or have seen the app working on a friend's device - you don't know quite what you're getting" the Finnish giant's official Nok Nok blog stated.
