The Nokia N8 is not yet available, but the upcoming smartphone has been demonstrated performing some rather clever tricks in tandem with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse set.

It is believed that this compatibility will be useful when the N8 is connected to an HDTV using the HDMI output, as the user could theoretically recline on the settee and play back videos without having to sit next to the mobile.

Nokia has produced its own brand Bluetooth keyboard, although it claims that the N8 is not restricted to hardware produced by the Finnish firm.

This statement is supported by the fact that the mouse used in tandem with the N8 by tech site Engadget was produced by Logitech not Nokia.

With this kind of functionality the N8 could easily become a portable media hub that is more than just a small screen smartphone with touchscreen controls.

It seems that the media is gradually warming to the idea of the Nokia N8 after several weeks of scepticism and further features like this will only improve its reception when it arrives in the coming months.

Another ostensibly impressive smartphone function from Nokia that only about 2 people will use. They really, really don't get it, do they?
